"People always mistake that song for something very negative, but they are missing the point because there are all these lines over and over again ‘I believe in nothing… I believe in nothing.’, but at the end of each line or phrase there are two sections, in the first one he [Jared] says ‘I believe in nothing but the beating of our hearts. I believe in nothing but the truth in who we are.’ And to me that’s actually really cool because really what he’s saying is ‘All of this is bullshit, the only thing you can really truly count on is this’ *points to his heart* You know, as long as your heart is beating you’re alive. You know as long as you know who you are, everything else doesn’t matter. No one can tell you anything. And I think that’s a really good example of the way he writes his lyrics. There is definitely a meaning behind everything for sure. Whether it’s telling a story or telling you something about his perception."
